Resetting and Getting Ready for Fall, Glow up Tips for Inside and Out

We are quickly approaching arguably the best season, Fall. Whether you are getting ready for that first day back at school, heading back to campus, or settling in for the colder mornings before work, we have got you covered.

In this post, we will be exploring realistic and helpful tips for a fall glow-up. Now it is important to note that glow-ups should always be as focused on the inside as on the outside. If you are feeling your best it often translates into looking your best. So yes we will be touching on things like skincare solutions and outfit essentials, we are also diving into setting yourself up for success for what can often be a period of transition in one's life.

Be Kind to Yourself, and Your Skin

The fall can be a transition period for your skin, with the drop in heat and humidity your routine will potentially call for more hydration and moisturizer. Try a hyaluronic acid or a nice rich moisturizer for the colder months. With changes to your routine, it is important to remember that you must introduce one new thing at a time, it's never a good idea to go crazy with a whole new routine. Slow and steady win the race.

Hair Care can be Self-care

Fall can be the perfect time for a trim, especially after the summer months, which can be quite damaging, and while you're at it think about trying a color-depositing conditioner or hair gloss, Madison Beer swears by them. This one by Glaze is a relatively affordable at-home option, and opting for a gloss means minimal damage and maximum results.

These Boots are Made for Walking

I don’t know about you, but I am happy to see knee-high boots' resurgence again. I’m just as obsessed with the Frye Campus boots as everyone else, but that sure is a hefty price tag. Here is similar affordable and comfortable pair from Amazon for anyone looking for a cute new pair for fall who does not want to break the bank.

Healthy Eating is Happy Eating

When I say healthy eating, I am not talking about dieting, I am talking about the quality of the food. Eat what is in season, Fall is a spectacular time to start adding local and in-season produce into your diet. Make sure your plate is colorful with apples, persimmons, pumpkins, and beats, just to name a few. Also, the cozy nights mean tea time, and drinking tea is a sneaky way to consume more water and stay hydrated. I will always come back to a good chai.

Spend More Time Outside

Spending time in nature looks different for everyone, it varies depending on where you live, rural or urban, what sort of climate, your schedule, etc. But it can be as simple as taking a few minutes in the morning to walk around your block or sip your coffee in your yard. We must get daily vitamin D even with summer coming to a close.

Setting Goals with Intentions

A new season means a chance to form a new mindset. Now is the perfect time for you to sit down and evaluate where you are and where you want to be in the future. Try to set goals for yourself, focus on a couple of things to complete by the end of the calendar year, and a few more to have completed a year from now, if you are feeling especially motivated maybe work on your five-year plan. The most important thing to remember with goal setting is to be as specific as possible. Every goal should be measurable and broken down into baby steps. ‘I want to travel more’ is a decent goal but it's too vague, ‘I want to take three trips next year, one of them being an international trip’ is better. From there it's easy to break down this goal into baby steps: 1. Research the best destinations for female travelers, 2. Start putting away x amount from each paycheck into a travel fund, 3. Renew your Passport, and so on. These steps are measurable and far from overwhelming, meaning boxes will get checked off and plans will actually make it out of the group chat.

Spring Cleaning, meet Fall Decluttering

Who said Spring Cleaning has to happen in the Spring? Especially if you are prepping for a new semester, clear it out and start on the right foot, this will set you up for success in more ways than one. Also, you might rediscover old clothes you had forgotten about, or that cute notebook you picked up last year but never used, it will be perfect for this semester!

Visualize, Visualize, Visualize

Vision board crafting is the perfect activity for the Fall. Working in tandem with goal setting, visualizing your goals can also be a powerful step in actualizing them. This is a super fun activity to do with your girls, have a cozy night in with magazines, scissors glue, snacks, and maybe some wine.

Try incorporating more junk in your Journal

If Fall makes you feel crafty or nostalgic, this is your sign to start a junk journal. Think of it as a combination of scrapbooking, collecting keepsakes, and journaling. A junk journal is somewhere you can write about that cute movie date you had last week, and to go along with it you can paste your ticket stub right on the page. If you are the kind of person who saves receipts, tickets, wrist bands and are looking for a convenient and cute place to keep them, this is the perfect solution.

This is all just plenty of food for thought, these tips can be modified and incorporated into your life in big and small ways. Fall is a season of change and transition, the landscape and weather changes, and your daily schedule likely changes. These changes are something that you should lean into and embrace. It is the perfect time to switch things up, try that new hair color, and finally get around to journaling, the world is ripe for the taking in Fall, so make sure you enjoy it!
