Play dress to impress - Not joking. Go back to your dress-up game roots and get too invested in getting on the podium. If nothing else it can get your mind off things.
Calligraphy - You can get fancy with it, but you only need some basic paper and pens to start. If you feel like leveling up your basic supplies this kit has everything all in one. This is a fantastic and impressive skill to pull out the next time you have to write a thank you note.
Sewing - Using the term ‘sewing’ loosely here. This could include cropping old shirts, cutting the necklines of crew necks you never wear, or fabric gluing a hem on that pair of pants that are too long. I can almost guarantee you have something you can spice up in your closet. If you have a pair of kitchen scissors and an inspo pic, anything is possible.
Stargazing - Granted results may vary depending on where you live, but all you need is somewhere to lie down and look up. There are also plenty of apps to help you with learning constellations. I always find this very meditative and grounding.
Printmaking - Again this can be as simple or complicated as you like. You can even use a potato as your printing stamp, but if you are looking for something a little bit more advanced than that, this starter kit is only $15.
Meditation - Completely free and plenty of beginner-friendly resources on YouTube and on various free apps. All you need is yourself and some patience.
Coffee Crafting - Not only is this be a fun hobby to pick up, if you are an iced latte enthusiast it can save you money, cutting down on those 8-dollar drinks from the cafe. A moka pot is the easiest and cheapest way to brew espresso at home right on the stove. From there, it is up to you to get creative with the kinds of milk and flavored syrups.
Reading - Not super creative, but one of the most valuable ways to spend your free time. With library apps like Libby, you don’t have to spend any money at all to loan new e-books and audiobooks right on your phone. If you have not already, sign up for a card at your local library and get access ASAP.
Journaling - This can look different for everybody, but there is no wrong way to do it. Write in any way that feels natural to you. It could be stream of consciousness, poetry, or shadow work (you can find prompts here!) The options are endless, and it's just for you to get your thoughts and feelings out, zero pressure.
Yoga - There are countless health benefits to practicing yoga, including strength, balance, and posture improvement. Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube is one of the best sources for free guided practices.
Baking Bread - Plenty of recipes with varying levels of prep and difficulty. Whether it be sourdough or French bread, there are plenty of recipes online, and it is typically pretty easy to find a breadmaker at your local thrift store.
Tea Blending - This one is especially great for anyone trying to lay off the caffeine. If you are struggling with anxiety, sleep, digestion, etc herbal remedies like tea can help bring some relief. This kit is a good place to start, with jasmine, lavender hibiscus, and more.
Propagation - For those who are unfamiliar, propagation is the process by which new plants grow from parent stocks, most commonly plant clippings. If you or any of your friends have houseplants, or you can sneak a clipping from elsewhere, this one can also be completely free. All you need is that clipping, something to put it in like an old sauce jar, and some water. Pathos plants specifically have major success with this method and while your plants are propagating in their jars, they serve as a nice pop of color in your apartment.
DJing - While it might sound daunting, complicated, or worthy of an eye roll, learning how to use DJ software can be a fun way to express your creativity, especially since many platforms and software offer free or inexpensive options to get you spinning tracks and mixing beats in no time with just your laptop. Who knows, maybe you will find your calling.
Jumproping - One of the best forms of cardio and another one you can do at home. Jump ropes are easy to find and cheap, like this one.
Pilates - Similar to yoga, Pilates is a fantastic and accessible form of low-impact exercise. There are plenty of free routines on YouTube and Pinterest to help you get started on your pilates journey.
Foraging - For anyone who lives in rural areas or has access to public parks and trails, learning about herbs and edible plant life that grow locally can be fascinating. Do your research you might be surprised at what you find!
Gardening - Even for my city girls, see if you have any community gardens in and around your neighborhood, or this could even be as simple as a small herb garden in your kitchen.
Kombucha Brewing - Another one with the potential for some serious savings. With a bottle going for around five dollars these days, with this specific starter kit, it will have paid for itself after only three servings! Plus you will know exactly what is going into it, no chemicals or artificial colors.
Vision Board Crafting - There is so much inspiration for this on Pinterest. Whether it be digital or physical it can be a fantastic tool for personal development, manifestation, and goal setting.

There are countless free resources and guided sessions available online and you will feel a difference even after only a few minutes.
Digital Collage - For anyone with an artistic side, digital art can be a fun medium to explore, and collage is a super beginner-friendly form of graphic design. Canva can be a great place to start with this.
Natural Fabric Dying - Similar to the potato stamp and the loose definition of ‘sewing’ we used earlier, this is both scrappy and budget-friendly. That old stained white shirt you never wear? How about dying it with turmeric or beets? Bring some color and new life into the clothes you already own with this eco-friendly method.
Hula Hooping - Another fantastic budget-friendly form of exercise that is quiet, apartment-friendly, and cheap. Here is an adult-size one from Amazon.
Comedy - I have so many hilarious women in my life, who I am always trying to convince to pursue comedy. Do your friends tell you you're funny? This is your sign, do something with it! This one is especially good for anyone who loves talking to themselves, try your hand at coming up with ten minutes of stand-up material, and maybe even see if there are any open mics near you.
Blogging - Certainly I am biased here, but I must say that blogging has been a very fulfilling passion of mine, right from the beginning. If you love to write, like being active on social media, or have a specific interest in a topic, like travel, beauty, pets, or anything at all it can be a very fulfilling creative outlet. Who knows you might even make some money out of it!
