It means Get Your S**t Together, for those that are unfamiliar
In this post, we discuss actionable tips and proven strategies to streamline your workflow, boost productivity, and achieve your goals. From time management to smart organizational tools, we cover everything you need to get your stuff together and maximize your GYST.
Today is the day that you finally get your life back on track. The three main categories of a successful GYST are maintenance, prep, and care. This routine will look a little bit different for everyone of course, but it’s a good start for when you have absolutely no clue where to begin. Also, I should mention traditionally Sundays are GYST days, but not all of us work traditional 9-5s, and sometimes you just get that random urge mid-week to turn your life around, seize that urge people!
Step one: Maintain
Wash your sheets, you and I both know it has been way too long since you last washed them, I’m always looking for ways to make mundane tasks luxurious, that's why I love using detergent from The Laundress it gets everything hotel fresh. It might seem a bit pricey, but a little does go a long way.
While you are at it, pick up all your dirty clothes off the floor and when your sheets are out of the washer, plop them in too.
Wash any dirty dishes and take out the trash.
Clean out your car, it's getting gross.
Declutter all your surfaces.
This is when we need to use some elbow grease, it’s vacuum and mop time.
By now that laundry should be out of the dryer, fold and hang up the clothes, and pop those sheets back on the bed.
Step two: Prep (and Organize)
Agenda time, write out a schedule, and make sure you are all squared away for the upcoming week.
Plan out meals and groceries for the week, I know this can seem daunting but much better to tackle and plan it out now.
Plan out some form of exercise for the week while you're at it, it doesn’t have to be anything crazy, maybe start with incorporating some walks into your schedule.
I like to tackle one looming task that I have been putting on the back burner, this week it is cleaning out my emails, how am I supposed to be my best self with 10,000 unread emails?? Time to put on something in the background, music, a podcast, etc, and go through that inbox.
Step three: Care
Now we get to relax! Perfect time to take that everything shower.
Light a candle.
Make a nice simple meal or better yet order in.
Watch something comforting, it could always be Gilmore Girls for the hundredth time.
Read a book and make sure to get a good night's sleep.
